MLB Draft Archive

Data: MLB Stats API (picks, schools, signing bonuses, slot values, debuts) and FanGraphs (career fWAR and stats, 1977–2026 seasons). Signing bonuses and slot values are listed from 2017 on, the years MLB publishes them. Pre-draft ranks for 2021–2026 are Over-Slot's own draft rankings; 2017–2020 ranks are MLB.com's. A player drafted again in a later year did not sign, so his row is grayed out and his stats belong to the later pick. Exp. fWAR and vs. slot: expected fWAR is the average career fWAR of every pick in the same pick range (1–5, 6–10, 11–20, 21–30, 31–50, 51–75, 76–100, 101–150, 151–200, 201–300, 301–500, 501+), from the same school level (high school, four-year, junior college) and the same five-year era of drafts (1975–79 through 2010–14). From 2015 on, players are compared only to their own draft class, since careers that recent are at very different stages even a year apart. Ranges with fewer than 15 picks use all school levels. Unsigned picks are left out of the averages. vs. slot is career fWAR minus expected fWAR, for signed picks only.
