Every draft class has its share of "safe" arms. The "high-floor" guys, to borrow the buzzword that gets thrown around for pitchers who don't need the same level of development as their peers. Truthfully, there's no such thing as "risk-averse" when you're spending millions on a baseball player.

But some players are genuinely less risky than others, and Notre Dame right-hander Jack Radel is one of the poster boys for it in the 2026 class. Among the low-floor, high-ceiling arms in his range, Radel stands out as the more comforting option for a war room.

What makes this 6-foot-5, 250-pound South Dakotan less of a gamble than his peers? Part of it is the already filled-out — and frankly massive — frame. But a lot of it is how many strikes he throws, posting a strike rate north of 69% on his three primary offerings.
