One of the surprises of the day came when the New York Mets took Arkansas righty Carson Wiggins at No. 27 overall in the draft. 

Wiggins is a name that had a little more buzz around it than you’d expect for an arm that has pitched just 14 innings across the past two seasons – as well as none within the past calendar year. There was certainly attention around the name in the Day 1 category, but the energy was more geared towards rounds 2-3; almost no one expected him to be grabbed at pick 27.
