It hasn't been a season of good fortune for South Carolina when it comes to pitching. A lot of the pieces they had been hoping for on the pitching staff have not come to fruition in one way or another. But Amp Phillips has come in to fill the vacuum, providing a stable presence in the rotation. Phillips has been silently one of the best starting pitchers in the SEC, with a 2.17 ERA in 49.2 innings. He had his best outing this weekend against Missouri, with eight scoreless innings, cruising to the tune of one walk and ten strikeouts. He's got a solid game, working with a 91-93 mph fastball with big cut and ride action.
