Michigan State infielder Ryan McKay has always been the underdog. Just 5-foot-10, 165 pounds coming out of Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep in 2023, he was often overlooked.

As a high school senior, scouts showed up at his league games to see fellow infielders Blake Grimmer and Jasen Oliver. McKay was often that third "nifty" infielder that manned second base. As a high school junior, he battled for playing time behind names like Nolan Schbart, Ike Irish, Jack Crighton and Jake Dresselhouse. Brock Porter would draw scouts with his tremendous arm talent. So much big league talent in front of him. He had to wait. 

After a big sophomore campaign in East Lansing, his time is now.
