The college shortstop. They don't last long in the draft. Missouri shortstop Kam Durnin is hoping to fall into that bucket in 2026.
Indeed, the 2025 Draft saw 17 college shortstops drafted in the top five rounds. It was one of the highest marks in draft history. The middle infielder with the slick glove and bat-to-ball skills always provides a floor to scouting departments looking to acquire big league talent. Durnin is perhaps just that, and maybe more.
