It's not often a player does something you've never seen before. On friday, Vanderbilt catcher Colin Barczi set a new standard in college baseball with an unprecedented feat.
Barczi went nuclear at Globe Life Park against a tough TCU pitching staff. In the third inning, he homered against a future top-five round pick in TCU righty Tommy LaPour. In the 7th, he homered off a tough righty in Tanner Sagouspe. He added one more bomb in the 9th against Nate Stern. He finished the day 3 for 5 with three homers, accounting for three of the four runs Vanderbilt scored in the loss to TCU. Three homers is an rare accomplishment at any level. Three homers at a big league ballpark is especially rare. But neither of those accomplishments Friday broke records.
Indeed, Barczi not only broke a record in college baseball. He obliterated it.
