On Wednesday, Andrew C. Golden of the Washington Post reported that Washington Nationals VP of Amateur Scouting, Danny Haas, is leaving the organization to return to the Baltimore Orioles. Sources close to the situation suggest Haas will join Mike Elias as his Special Assistant in Baltimore.
Haas was hired by former Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo in October of 2023 -- less than two years ago.
Rizzo was fired by the Nationals just one week prior to the 2025 MLB Draft. His prompt and unexpected departure brought with it the expectations of changes inside the Nationals front office this summer and during the impending offseason. Mike DeBartolo was hired as the interim general manager to help navigate the Draft and trade deadline. It remains to be seen whether he will be retained in that role for 2026 and beyond.
